Christopher Andies is a 1997 graduate of Cherokee High School in Rogersville, Tennessee. Mr. Andies earned his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Tennessee Technological University in 2002. While at TTU, he studied with nationally and internationally renowned professors such as Joseph Hermann, Dr. Charles Decker, Robert Jager, Chris McCormick, and Dr. Greg Danner. In 2001, Mr. Andies gained national recognition by placing 2nd at the National Trumpet Competition in the University Ensemble Division.
Prior to his appointment as VHS Director of Bands, Mr. Andies served as Director of Bands at Surgoinsville Middle School, Church Hill Middle School, and Assistant Director at Volunteer High School. For twelve years, he helped lead the SMS, CHMS, and VHS Bands to numerous honors. Mr. Andies' students have received district, regional, and state honors at various Junior/Senior and Jazz Clinics. Many of those students are now music educators. During that time, the VHS Band was awarded multiple superior ratings at contests and made national appearances at the All-State Sugar Bowl in New Orleans and Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida.
Mr. Andies is an active trumpet performer, clinician, and adjudicator. Additionally, Mr. Andies maintains a very active private trumpet studio. He has most recently served as clinician for the Washington County, TN All-County Band and the ETSBOA Jazz Clinic Band. In 2014, Mr. Andies became an endorsed performing artist for Jupiter XO Professional Trumpets.
